SUNY Delhi Men, Cleary University Women Win 2016 USCAA Cross Country National Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – A perfect day to run, the SUNY Delhi men’s team and Cleary University women’s team took top honors at the 2016 USCAA Cross Country National Championships Presented by J&A Racing. SUNY Delhi improved on its third place finish from last year and Cleary University continued its dominance from its second place performance in 2015.

In the men’s race, the SUNY Delhi Broncos edged out reigning national champions Berea College with an outstanding team performance with an average time of 26:27 in the 8K race. Four Broncos earned All-American honors. The runner up Mountaineers were just seconds behind with an average team time of 26:29. Cleary University took third overall for the men.

Berea College’s Isaiah Dodson shot out of the box and never looked back. He earned the title as the 2016 USCAA Men’s Cross Country Individual Champion with a time of 25:15. Josh Keenan of Florida College earned second place with a time of 25:21 and Berea’s Jeremy Johnson finished in third place at 25:52.

In the women’s race, Cleary University brought first place back to Michigan as well as three All-Americans. The 2016 USCAA Women’s Cross Country Champions had an average team time of 23:48 in the 6K race. Cleary was paced by Elaine Labarge and Madison Paquette, who finished third and fourth respectively. Berea College placed second with an average team time of 24:18 and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences finished in third place with an average team time of 24:59.

The individual champion for the women was Julie Johnson from Florida College with a time of 22:07. Last year’s individual champion Aine McMorrow placed second with a time of 22:27 and Cleary University’s Elaine Labarge finished in third place with a time of 22:31.
